Broadband adiabatic inversion experiments for the measurement of longitudinal relaxation time constants

چکیده

Accurate measurements of longitudinal relaxation time constants (T1) in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) experiments are important for the study molecular-level structure and dynamics. Such often made under magic-angle spinning conditions; however, there numerous instances where they must be on stationary samples, which give rise to broad powder patterns arising from large anisotropic NMR interactions. In this work, we explore use wideband uniform-rate smooth-truncation pulses measurement T1 constants. Two introduced: (i) BRAIN-CPT1, a modification BRAIN-CP (BRoadband Adiabatic-INversion-Cross Polarization) sequence, broadband CP-based (ii) WCPMG-IR, WURST-CPMG direct-excitation (DE) inversion-recovery experiments. A series measured spin-1/2 quadrupolar nuclei with patterns, such as 119Sn (I = 1/2), 35Cl 3/2), 2H 1), 195Pt 1/2). High signal-to-noise spectra uniform can obtained due signal enhancements T2eff-weighted echo trains, favorable cases, BRAIN-CPT1 allows rapid comparison DE Protocols spectral acquisition, processing, analysis data discussed. most behavior modeled either monoexponential or biexponential functions based upon integrated pattern intensity; it is also demonstrated that one interpret values caution, by anisotropy 119Sn, 2H, spectra.

Regional T1 relaxation time constants in Ex vivo human brain: Longitudinal effects of formalin exposure

PURPOSE Relaxation time constants are useful as markers of tissue properties. Imaging ex vivo tissue is done for research purposes; however, T1 relaxation time constants are altered by tissue fixation in a time-dependent manner. This study investigates regional changes in T1 relaxation time constants in ex vivo brain tissue over 6 months of fixation. METHODS Five ex vivo human brain hemispher...

Broadband inversion for MAS NMR with single-sideband-selective adiabatic pulses.

We explain how and under which conditions it is possible to obtain an efficient inversion of an entire sideband family of several hundred kHz using low-power, sideband-selective adiabatic pulses, and we illustrate with some experimental results how this framework opens new avenues in solid-state NMR for manipulating spin systems with wide spinning-sideband (SSB) manifolds. This is achieved thro...

Broadband and adiabatic inversion of a two-level system by phase-modulated pulses.

We describe a class of continuously phase-modulated radiation pulses that result in coherent population inversion on resonance as well as over a large range of transition frequencies and radiation field strengths. This is a population-inversion analogy to self-induced transparency. Simulations of the inversion properties of' the modulated inversion pulse (MIP) are presented. It is shown that th...
